Brother Celaya was born and raised along the Peninsula south of San Francisco. He attended Brigham Young University for a year, then served a mission to southern Argentina. After returning to BYU, he played on the University soccer team, taught and trained at the Missionary Training Center over the course of 7 years, and graduated with his BA in Spanish Translation and his JD from the J. Reuben Clark Law School (though he is as proud to be an MBA dropout as he is a Law School grad). Despite his foray into the law, he loved teaching language and the gospel at the MTC more than anything else; and, after a bit of arm-twisting from both the Lord and his wife, he accepted a full-time teaching position with the Church Education System in 2000. He has since taught Institute classes at Solano Community College in Fairfield, Touro Medical School in Vallejo, Stanford University, UOP Dental School, UCSF Dental School, and now at UC Berkeley. He did pass the California Bar and, on the side, has been practicing Estate Law for a decade. He and his wife met in the singles ward at BYU, married in the Manti Temple, and multiplied and replenished the earth. They have 6 children ages 5 to 15.
