How to register for classes online?

How to register for classes online? You need to be between the ages of 18-30. You can register for classes at anytime. You are always invited to attend classes. There is not a fee to register for classes. You do not need to be a college student to attend classes.

The institute needs you! Come join in - Missionary Preparation Classes are for students between the ages of 17-30.

Parking at the Institute

As an institute student to qualify for parking at the S.L. Institute you will need to do the following: 1. Register for an institute class 2. Activate your parking between September 6th-9th, 2016 (Information will be provided by your teacher). Student lots will start ticketing on September 12, 2016. Student lots are not ticketed after 4:00 pm Monday-Friday nor on Saturday and Sundays. Motorcycles parked in motorcycle parking do not need parking permits. Thank You

Adults 31 and Older Religion Classes

Institute classes are for students between the ages of 18-30. Adults 31 and older are invited to attend BYU Continuing Education classes held throughout the Salt Lake Valley. A schedule of those classes are available at or by calling 1-800-992-1014. BYU Continuing Education offers a wide selection of Adult Religion classes for those over 30.

Institute Choirs

The Salt Lake Institute Singers, our auditioned choir, meets during the daytime (from 12:00 p.m.–1:45PM) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Consistent and regular attendance is mandatory. To schedule an audition or to ask any questions, please contact Brother McDonald at or 801-588-8428, or just stop by his office (W016) at the institute building. You will need fill out an online application and then wait for Brother McDonald to respond about audition times (most auditions will happen the week before school or the first week of school). Here is the link: The Salt Lake Institute Choir No audition is required for our Salt Lake Institute Choir, which meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30–8:00PM. This choir will perform alone and will also join the Institute Singers for special occasions and large choral numbers. The Institute Choir will often sing for youth tours on Wednesday night and other special mutual night performances. About Brother McDonald Brother McDonald loves teaching institute at his alma mater! He grew up in East Millcreek and received bachelor’s degrees in Music and Communications and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Utah. He served a mission in the Buenos Aires Argentina South Mission. Brother McDonald has taught for 15 years with S&I both as a seminary and institute instructor. He is also an accomplished and sought-after pianist/musician who arranges and composes for many well-known groups, artists, and movies. He currently directs the Salt Lake University Institute Singers and Institute Choir. He lives in Riverton with his wife Kristien and their 6 children.

Service Corner - Institute Atrium

Service Corner - Every day all day - In the Institute Atrium - Come help us make Quilts, Hand Puppets. Other projects are also being worked on and donated to the Humanitarian Center.

Lunch Deli

**Note: Deli will open on Thursday, August 23rd. The institute through LDS Church Food Services provides a deli for students and others during the hours of 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday in the Fall and Spring Semesters. Students may purchase sandwiches, soup, salads etc. Vending machines and microwave ovens are also available in the game room.

The Institute has a Housing and Job Board that you can come in person to view, or post ads.

Wireless Internet Access!

You can use your Laptop, Phone, Ipad to access the internet at the Institute. Come and study in a quiet friendly place. See the Office for the access code.

Application for Graduation 2018

Attached is the Application for Graduation Form (Extended to be turned in by Friday, April 13th. You will now be responsible to take the Application for Graduation form to your Bishop and have him sign the Ecclesiastical Endorsement, Applicant needs to fill in the requested information, and return it to the institute before the Application deadline on - April 13th, 2018. Requirements are: 1. Complete 14 total credits, including all 4 Cornerstone courses (8 credits) and 3 elective courses (6 credits). Scripture-based courses completed prior to August 1, 2015 fulfill Cornerstone course requirements. 2. Ecclesiastical Endorsement
